Memphis has been covered in ice for the past several days... Of course I miss my warm (or even hot) summer weather, where you can slip on a pair of flipflops and a comfy skirt and head out the door... but I have to admit... the ice is breathtaking! This morning Dustin and I headed out the door for church and the sun was peaking out from behind some trees. The beams were warming my face and causing the sparkling ice to melt from the trees. It was absolutely perfect. When we arrived at church nobody was there and there was a thick sheet of ice covering the parking lot. As our car slid through the lot we realized... no wonder they canceled church... if some elderly person were to fall or someone to get in a wreck... yikes! Anyway, we really enjoyed the drive around Memphis and loved seeing snow falling outside our windows this weekend. God is good for giving us such creativity and beauty through the seasons. I will post a few pictures Dustin took soon. Besides enjoying the weather, this weekend we were able to use a gift certificate given to us by Josh and Debbie for Christmas and ate at Carrabba's. Yum! It was amazing... we felt absolutely spoiled after the feast and it had been a while since we had the opportunity to go on a date. After that, we spent some time with our friends Hunter and Maggie. The boys wanted to have "boy night" so Maggie and I went to the movies with her parents and another couple (they were generous enough to pay for the ticket) and enjoyed seeing the movie "Leap Year". It was a really cute chick flick. Dustin usually isn't up for watching those types and we really never go to the movies, so, it was quite a treat as well.
I cannot believe our first month in Memphis has passed by so quickly! We have truly felt blessed here and are looking forward to the next few months as well. We will try to continue posting - even about just the simple happenings in our lives.
